8 months old!!

Where has the time gone?  I can not believe that my precious little boy is already 8 months old.  It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home and now he is 8 months old and crawling all over and pulling up on everything.  He has really started to develop a personality and he is a ham.  We can lay him in bed at night and we will hear him talking and playing.  When we go it to check on him he is usually standing up playing with the mobile projector on the side of his bed.  A huge smile breaks across his face when he notices we are watching.  He loves to cuddle with his blankie when he gets tired and rubs it on the side of his face.  It is the sweetest thing ever!  He loves to talk to his toys and us, although we aren't quite sure what he is saying, he's telling us some great stories!  I've tried to capture this cuteness on camera but it never fails as soon as I get it out he gets more interested in check out the camera and quits talking.  I did however manage to catch some on video recently, but as soon as he sees I have the camera he crawls over to inspect it.

8 month milestones
*Weight: a little over 16lbs
*Pulling up and walking along furniture
*Has let go of things and tried to take steps but quickly falls down
*No teeth
*Becoming very talkative

Look at that sweet face!!

1st illnesses

Yes that is plural, illnesses!  The month of October was not good to us in the health department.  The first week in October I got a phone call at work from "Mimi" telling me that Jaxon had woke up from his nap with 101.3 fever.  I quickly got things situated at school and left to go pick him up.  Luckily they had an appointment available that afternoon for him to see the doctor.  Poor thing did not feel good and all he wanted to do was sit in your lap and hold his blankie.  The doctor told us it looked like a sinus infection so we started our first round of antibiotics.  After 10 days of being on the medicine and 4 days at home, he was back to himself.

Last Friday morning while getting ready to go to "Mimi's" house, we were eating breakfast and while I was finishing getting everything together I hear this coughing/choking sound.  I look over to see all of Jaxon's breakfast coming back up again.  I didn't think much of it other than he must have choked or started to cough while drinking his milk and it just caused everything to come back up.  He has a VERY sensitive gag reflex so it didn't shock me too much.  We got everything cleaned up and headed out.  When I picked him up she said he had started to have some loose diapers.  By Sunday it was full blown diarrhea.  I think we went through every pair of clothing the child owns because nothing could contain the mess.  The good thing in all of this was that he not once acted like he felt bad.  He as happy, playful, and full of energy.  So again we were home for 3 days till we could keep in some of our food.  Luckily, Mommy and Daddy did not get the stomach virus that Jaxon had.  I was fully prepared for it just in case!!

I am happy to report that we are now illness free!  Let's hope November is much kinder to us.

Homecoming Parade

This Friday was homecoming for the Brenham Cubs.  So as you can imagine, there were lots of homecoming activities during the week including the homecoming parade.  This was Jaxon's first of many homecoming parades to attend.  We picked up daddy from the field house and headed downtown to get our spot.  After dropping daddy off at the football float we met up with Kelci, LeAnn and Vicki in front of the courthouse.  It was right at Jaxon's dinner time so he was in the best of moods at first.  Once he had his cup and his nice relaxing seat with a good view, he was ready to go.  Here are a few pictures of Jaxon at the parade.  Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the actual floats at the parade because my camera is too slow so all of the ones I did take were blurry.  Many that means I need a new camera! ; )

Ouch!!!

Well Jaxon received his first good bruise this evening. He's had bumps before, I mean this child is active. He's bump his head on the bed, toys, etc. When that happens there's a red mark that goes away in 20-30 mins. Usually no crying either. Tonight however, we had not just a red mark. We had tears, red mark, knot, and now bruise! : )

He was playing on the floor with Brett's mom and kept reaching for the coffee table. He finally made his way over close enough where he could pull up onto his knees. He played for a while banging on the table and tried grabbing things. The problem came when he was getting back onto the floor. He pushed himself back away from the table and fell forward when reaching for the floor. In the process he hit his face on the edge of the table, leaving behind a nice little bruise. Surprisingly he didn't cry for too long. We went into the kitchen and put a cold teething toy on it while he watched the dogs out the window.

My heart broke when it happened but I was super proud of my little man. He's so tough!

First Aggie Game!

This past Saturday we took Jaxon to his first Aggie game at Kyle Field.  He was so excited before the game, flirted with the ladies that sat behind us during the game, napped during the 3rd quarter and woke up to see the Aggies beat the Vandals from Idaho.  He did fantastic and gets to go this next weekend to see the Aggies beat the OSU Cowboys!  Here are a few pictures from Saturday.

Time to baby proof!

In the last couple days Jaxon's mobility has increased tremendously.  We no longer can set him down on the floor to play and expect to find him in the same position 10 seconds later.  We haven't fully mastered crawling but we can scoot all over the floor.  He uses his feet and arm underneath him to push off.  It is almost an army man crawl.  We had just mastered sitting independently and now he's ready for bigger and better things.  I'm not so sure mom and dad are ready for that just yet.  There is A LOT of baby proofing that needs to be done before he has free rein of the house.  It is so hard to believe that my little boy is 6 months old already and sitting by himself and about to be crawling.  Where has the time gone?

Baptism

OK so I know I'm a little late at getting this done and really there's no good excuse because this doesn't take that much of my time.  I guess I've just been lazy.  :)   On August 7th we had Jaxon baptised at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He did a fantastic job during the church service and when it was time for the baptism, let's just say he paid attention to every word the pastor said.  You will see in the pictures that he is a very good listener and he knows when someone is talking to/about him.  I hope the good listening continues when he gets older.  Something tells me he probably won't.

Rolling over!

We knew it was coming soon b/c Jaxon loves to sleep on his belly.  The night of July 1st I had gone in to check on him about 2:00 when I let the dogs out to use the restroom.  When I put him to bed I laid him on his back, however when I went to check on him he was on his belly.  I asked Brett if he had put him on his belly and he said no.  The next night the same thing happened.  We figured he was rolling over himself but we had yet to see this actually happen.  I had him laying on the floor the other day and within 2 minutes he had rolled to his belly.  I rolled him back over and grabbed the video camera to see if he would do it again.  My luck he wouldn't because anytime we pull a camera out he quits whatever it was we were trying to film.  Not this time.  Right on cue he rolled over to his belly and them gave me a huge grin.  It was almost as if he knew what he had done and was super proud of himself.  Here is the video of him rolling over.

Swimming

Since it has been so hot this summer the best relief is to go swimming.  Luckily my parents have a pool in their neighborhood where we can go swimming.  We have been several times this summer and it is wonderful.  We went over to my parents for July 4th and we were the only one at the pool.  I'm not sure how we lucked out on that but it was very nice.  Here are a few pictures from our swimming trips.

4 Months Old

Today Jaxon had his 4 month check up with Dr. Sullivan.  He did a great job and cooperated with the nurse while she was getting his weight and length; smiled and talked to the Dr. when she came in.  He now weighs 12 lbs 14 oz which is in the 14%, and is 25 inches which is in the 57%.  Then it came time for the dreaded shots.  He cried for just a few minutes and then took his binky and all was good.

Dr. Sullivan also told us that we could start introducing cereal and food.  After the doctor appointment we had to run by Target to get a few things so while we were there I picked up some stage 1 baby foods. Tonight at dinner we tried sweet potatoes. I think he would have eaten the whole jar if I had let him.  He loved the sweet potatoes!!  I hope he likes the other veggies and fruits as much as he liked the sweet potatoes.

First overnight trip

A couple weeks ago we took our first overnight trip with Jaxon.  We went and spent a few days in Blanco at Brett's parents house.  They have put there house on the market and we wanted to go spend one last time there before they sell it.  It was amazing how much stuff we took.  This time when we go overnight somewhere we are not only packing for ourselves but Jaxon as well.  He by far took WAY more stuff than we did!  I should have taken pictures of the truck all packed up and I'm kicking myself for that.  It was quite a sight to see.  We had the bag for Brett and I with our clothes and toiletries, the pack n' play, a bag with clothes for Jaxon, a bad with food for a Jaxon, and a bag with toys and diapers for Jaxon.

We had a great time while we were there.  We took Jaxon swimming in their pool, which he seemed to enjoy.  It was hard to tell because he just had a very serious look on his face the whole time.  Almost like he was studying the water very intently.  Oh to have been able to know what he was thinking!  Jaxon was paraded around town so Omi (Brett's mom) could show him off to all her friends.  Uncle Blake came down and we got to hang out with him.  A few of Brett good friends from high school/college were in town so we went over the their house and spent some time catching up with them.

It was a great trip and I'm sure there will be many more to come.

I'm BACK!!

Ok it has been FOREVER since I have posted!  Things have been very busy around here and a few weeks ago when I went to update the website wasn't working right.  From here on out I have told myself I am going to be better about posting, even if it is just a short post about the days activities or Jaxon's newest accomplishments!

Jaxon's latest accomplishments include sitting up with a little help from mommy, daddy or the bumbo; smiling, talking, and an occasional giggle.  He is also learning he can grab and hold on to things.  Jaxon is also rolling over from his tummy to his back and is very close to rolling over from his back to his tummy.  He is growing and changing so fast.  I can't wait to see what new thing he will do next.

Blessings to all,
